How I Practice Therapy

Not to make this about me - but I don’t believe we existed in a vacuum. I believe that we are impacted and influence by everything around us - (our communities, our political climate, our relationships) - and these things can impact our moods, our views of ourselves and our bodies. I

I use our bodies, drawing from modalities such as parts work, DBT, and other person-centered emotion focused modalities.

I believe in taking a systemic approach to therapy - meaning we’ll often (when helpful!) talk about the systems that we operate within (family, political, capitalism, etc.) that impact who we are and how we engage with the world, and I employ both feminist and social justice frameworks to our work together. I use parts work, emotion-focused, and person-centered modalities.

Ultimately, we work together to see what approach might be the best for you individually and go from there! Flexibility and curiosity are always prioritized.

In our sessions, you get to decide what the priorities are. I’ll keep on eye on things and call you out when necessary (“Okay but is that what you really said?”) and use my training to help steer us towards the unraveling of the knots, but this is YOUR space. If you feel like what you need right now is to vent about a weird passive aggressive text from your roommate - let’s get into it! If you’d like to focus only on deeper work, I’m ready and here for that as well.
